Project overview

When a new telehealth provider specializing in opioid addiction treatment approached Trendline SEO, they were starting from scratch.

They had an investor backing them but faced a significant challenge: their existing website was basic and attracted virtually no traffic.

However, the team behind the company was already familiar with our work.

We had previously driven tens of thousands of visits to another project they were involved with, so they trusted our process and results.

The primary goal was to establish this provider as more than just a telemedicine service.

We wanted to turn the site into an authoritative resource—one that didn’t just offer treatment but also provided educational content, digital resources, and valuable insights to help people struggling with addiction.

Content Strategy Development

We began by crafting a comprehensive content strategy from the ground up.

We did weeks of keyword research to identify what keywords to strategically cover in our content.

We found a health mix of people searching for informational content, but even more who were searching directly for treatment.

We knew people needed help at every point along the customer journey - from the stage of simple information gathering to the stage in which they were ready to book an appointment.

The focus ended up being a blend of transactional and informational keywords, but we leaned heavily into educational content designed to genuinely help potential patients.

Our approach wasn’t just about ranking; it was about making a real impact.

Once the content plan was in place, we needed the right team to execute it.

Given the sensitivity of addiction treatment (a Your Money or Your Life, or YMYL, topic), we took extra precautions to qualify subject matter experts to write for the site.

After rigorous selection and training, our team of specialized writers got to work.

For the first six months, we published 30,000 words of content per month.

By month seven, we doubled our output to 60,000 words.

In total, we published 450 in-depth, informative articles to establish the company as an industry thought leader.

Website Redesign and Development

With content production underway, we turned our attention to the website itself.

The existing platform wasn’t optimized for conversions or SEO, so we completely overhauled it in WordPress.

  • Brand Kit & Style Guide: We built a cohesive brand identity, including a style guide and Figma library with all design assets.
  • Custom Design: Our team worked alongside a trusted third-party designer to meticulously design every page in Figma, ensuring a pixel-perfect mockup before development.
  • Collaboration with Developers: We partnered with a trusted third-party development team to bring the design to life, refining every aspect until the final product met our standards.
  • Content Implementation: Once the new site was live, we populated it with the backlog of high-quality content we had been producing but holding back for launch.

The end result? A well-structured, SEO-optimized site that was primed for growth.

But a new site with content published to it was only the starting point - we had more work to do yet.

Digital PR and Link Acquisition

We knew that if we wanted to actually stand a chance at ranking anything on the site, we'd need to quickly increase the domain authority.

But again, because the site is in the YMYL niche, we had to be incredibly strategic in how we built the links.

We needed contextual, relevant links from high-quality domains with a huge amount of domain authority.

So, we turned to my favorite way to build links to a homepage of a new site - a platform called Help a Reporter Out (HARO).

Working alongside a trusted industry contact of mine, we designed and launched an aggressive media pitch campaign on HARO and similar journalist outreach platforms.

Our goal was to secure high-authority backlinks and media mentions for the company to:

  • Improve domain authority (DR)
  • Drive referral traffic
  • Boost trust and credibility within the industry

Our team sent hundreds of personalized pitches, positioning the company as a go-to expert in the addiction treatment space.

This led to major media placements that significantly boosted the site’s authority and online presence.

SEO & Organic Growth

Our structured content strategy and high-quality backlink acquisition campaign led to a dramatic increase in organic visibility.

At launch, the site was receiving virtually no traffic, with only 400 visitors per month.

Fast forward to our peak months, and we had scaled that number to an impressive 47,000 monthly organic visitors—a 11,650% increase in traffic.

But this wasn’t just any traffic; these were users actively searching for addiction treatment resources, resulting in longer session durations, lower bounce rates, and higher engagement.

One of the most critical indicators of the site's growing authority was its Domain Rating (DR), which skyrocketed from 1 to 27 in just two months.

This is a 2,600% increase, a rare feat in such a short time frame.

This massive boost in DR made the site far more competitive in search rankings, allowing it to surface for high-value, industry-specific keywords that previously would have been out of reach.

A key driver behind this growth was our high-impact media placements.

We secured over 50 authoritative backlinks from industry-leading sites, including MSN, Healthline, and The Mirror.

These weren’t just random links—each one was strategically placed in highly relevant content, cementing the site’s credibility both in the eyes of search engines and potential patients.

Beyond rankings and traffic, we transformed the website into a powerful lead generation machine.

By the time our SEO strategy reached full momentum, the site was consistently pulling in 6+ warm leads per day, adding up to approximately 2,500 inbound leads purely from organic search.

These were not passive visitors—they were highly engaged potential patients actively seeking treatment solutions, resulting in an impressive conversion rate from site visitor to inquiry.

Paid Ads Strategy & Results

While our organic strategy built long-term success, we also identified an opportunity to leverage hyper-targeted paid search campaigns.

Between April 2023 and July 2023, we launched a meticulously optimized Google Ads campaign designed to bid on high-value keywords for pennies on the dollar.

Unlike competitors who were spending upwards of $100 per click, we refined our approach to drive high-intent traffic at just $0.08 per click.

The results spoke for themselves.

With a modest $6,000 budget, we achieved 91,000 clicks and an astonishing 13,000,000 ad impressions.

Every aspect of the campaign—from keyword selection to ad timing and audience segmentation—was fine-tuned to maximize efficiency.

This led to an explosive spike in traffic, which further complemented our organic growth strategy, ensuring a steady flow of new visitors from multiple sources.

Current Status & Business Restructuring

Despite these remarkable results, the company faced internal operational challenges and decided to restructure its business.

As a result, we paused our aggressive SEO efforts in late 2024.

However, even with the pause, the website continues to generate leads, maintaining a strong online presence and positioning itself for future growth.
